OperaBuffs of WNY 2012-2013 Inside Opera Lecture Series presents A Musical Journey through the Mediterranean: Expressions of Sicilian and Southern Italian Identity in Opera. Repertoire will include arias from Purcell, Mozart, Rossini, Gounod, Bizet, Mascagni, and Caroline Mallonée. From Sappho to Dido, from Greece to Seville - enjoy this tour through five centuries of opera and art song. We will also explore operas that portray Sicilian and Southern Italian elements from a musicological perspective.
