I'm excited to be singing with the Unitarian Universalist Church of Buffalo again as a Tenor soloist for Spring Music Sunday - Music, Religion, and the Sound of Faith Traditions. Joining the UUCB Choir and Director Daniel Bassin are special guests from Buffalo's premiere early music ensemble The Royall Consort, in a program of choral masterworks which reflect back on the various faith traditions of Unitarian Universalism. Theorbo... gambas... harpsichord! Bach Cantata 106 is an early one and I'm having a great time with the Tenor solo. I'll also be Alto Soloist for Bartók and Schubert:
J.S. Bach Cantata Gottes Zeit ist die allerbeste Zeit BWV 106 (1707/ 8); Béla Bartók Four Old Hungarian Folk Songs, No. 1 (1910, arr. for mixed choir by Daniel Bassin 2016); Franz Schubert Psalm 92 (1828).
The UUCB Choir performs twice a year (April and December) with members of the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra in special “Music Sundays” at the church. These standing-room-only events feature major choral works, and are eagerly anticipated by the larger Buffalo community. I so enjoyed working with this fabulous congregation and choir for Bach Christmas Oratorio last December too!
